Job Summary:

A Compliance Summer Intern will ensure vehicle and vessel compliance with state and federal regulations. Key duties include auditing title paperwork, asset management, and compliance with required registration. The Intern will develop and update an Excel or Smartsheets tracking system and organize the paper files.

The Intern will assist the Corporate Compliance Officer with ensuring that required paperwork is in order and that the Company’s assets are properly recorded. Other similar projects may be assigned as time permits.

Job Description:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Operational Compliance: Monitor and ensure adherence to federal, state and local regulations.
  • Quality Inspection: Perform audits of paperwork to ensure compliance.
  • Process Improvement: Analyze current workflows to identify efficiencies in the recording and storage process and procedures.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Maintain logs and document compliance findings.
  • Represent the company in a professional and positive manner.

SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE

  • Education: Position is designed for a high school rising senior, recent high school graduate, or student enrolled in a two or four year higher education diploma program.
  • In Person: This is an in-person position; candidate must have reliable transportation to the Company’s Fairfax, VA headquarters.
  • Customer Service: Strong customer service abilities; actively looking for ways to assist customers and coworkers.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze performance data and identify inefficiencies. Make correction/repair suggestions and communicate to Corporate Compliance Officer.
  • Attention to Detail: High visual acuity and meticulousness for inspecting records.
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and/or Smartsheets.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with staff and management. Ability to read and write, complete logs and communicate with other departments as needed to fulfill job responsibilities.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly frequent movements from place to place within the assigned work location. Bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms and hands above shoulder height frequently, or otherwise move in a constantly changing environment.
  • Lifting, carrying, and pushing up to 10 lbs. regularly, 15 lbs. frequently, and up to 20 lbs. occasionally.
  • Climbing steps and step ladders as needed to complete work.
  • Reading and writing work-related documents in English.
  • Speech recognition and clarity, including the ability to understand the speech of customers and co-workers and the ability to speak clearly so that you can be understood
  • by co-workers.
  • Physical presence at the job site is essential to perform job duties.

EQUIPMENT USED

  • Company computers and software.
  • Step Stool to reach files.

Work Hours

· Regular hours are Monday through Friday, between 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.

· Estimate 10 hours per week over 6-8 weeks.
