Composites Engineer - Roval

SUMMARY

Would you enjoy spending time on the manufacturing floor and in the test lab knowing that your projects will move the cycling industry forward? The best designs are only possible with the right manufacturing, and we are looking for someone to be the ears, eyes, voice, and brain which enable our suppliers to bring Roval wheels to market.
HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE
- Roval Composite Rim Development (60% of time)
- Be the eyes, ear, and voice at Roval’s composite rim vendors. Enable communication between Roval’s global engineering team and vendors.
- Aid design engineers in understanding SBCT lab test results. Identify how vendor materials and processes effect test results.
- Solve manufacturing issues so that new products can meet their required targets. Own root cause analysis, collaborate with design and quality engineers to validate solutions, and then drive corrective actions at vendors.
- Composite Rim, Spoke, and Component Vendor Development (30% of time)
- Establish trustworthy relationships with project managers and engineers at top tier vendors.
- Use communication and documentation best practices accelerate layup development and eliminate waste. Bring vendors up to Specialized’s professional standards.
- Lead composite rim, spoke, and component vendors to advance their technology, processes, and process control. Expand the possibilities for new designs.
- Collaborate with vendors, quality engineers, and design engineers on fixture development.
- Validate vendor tooling and gauges.
- Roval Wheel Assembly & Vendor Testing (10% of time)
- Arrange and monitor sample assembly for quality. Ensure wheels meet SBC requirements.
- Integrate wheel assembly parameters into rim root cause analyses.
- Monitor vendor wheel testing and consider test methods during root cause analysis.
WHAT YOU NEED TO WIN
- Engineering Degree
- Problem solving and negotiation skills necessary to advance supplier manufacturing processes
- Excellent communication and documentation skills (verbal, written, photo, video)
- Hands on problem solving (mechanical aptitude)
- Composites and metallurgical basic failure mode comprehension
- Personal workload management
- Bicycle wheel building experience
- Creo (CAD), Agile (PLM), Jira, and StarLIMS software experience
